Toronto Maple Leafs are staying Green
Hey everyone welcome back to my sports and fitness blog. As a Canadian and a hockey fan, I have been watching the Toronto Maple Leafs this season with a smile. Many considered the Leafs to be too young to compete in the playoffs, especially against the Washington Capitals who have undergone a trial by fire in the past few years. The Leafs came into the playoffs as the number eight seed as the second wild card in the Eastern Conference. Now, they are tied in the first round of the 2017 Stanley Cup playoffs at 1-1 after an overtime goal by Kasperi Kapanen. Games 3 and 4 will take place later this week in Toronto at Rogers Centre.
Can The Leafs Make it?
The Leafs are brimming with confidence after they have managed to bring a second game with the regular season champions to overtime. They have not only shown the ability to get out to an early lead, but also bounce back from the brink of death to snatch victory from the claws of defeat. The Leafs did manage to get to an early lead again the other night, but the Capitals closed the gap and forced overtime. Frederik Andersen was amazing in the net; he managed to blocking 96% of shots while his offence reinforced the notion that the Leafs can make a run for the trophy quicker than people thought. The only obstacle standing in their way now seems to be Alex Ovechkin. He nearly squashed the Leafs chance of victory; after stepping out of the box late in the first overtime period, starting a breakaway before Andersen pulled out another great save to keep the people of Toronto’s hopes alive.
