O Queen Sofia resumed its official agenda this Tuesday with an emotional visit. Felipe VI’s mother attended the annual meeting of the highest governing body in Reina Sofía Higher School of Music, institution of which she is honorary president. This organization is made up of a large group of personalities representing the various sectors of society, committed to the educational work carried out by this center of high musical training. At the meeting, Doña Sofía was informed of the work carried out in recent months and of the activities and projects planned for the next stage.
A visit in which the mother of Felipe VI also had the opportunity to visit for the first time the building adjacent to the School, whose use was ceded by INAEM, and where an ambitious architectural remodeling project will be developed in the coming years, with the aim of expanding the activities and the academic and artistic offer of the School, to make it a meeting point between music and society in Madrid.
It was around 12:00 in the morning when Queen Sofia arrived at the ceremony. Dressed in a black jacket and pants and a printed blouse, Felipe VI’s mother was very smiling upon arrival. The Queen has been talking to Paloma O’Shea and Ana Patricia Botín and has also received, from the mother of the president of the Santander Banksymbolic key of this new training center that will serve to expand the current facilities of the Superior School of Music Reina Sofia.
The visit of Felipe VI’s mother coincided with the announcement by the Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, of Princess Leonor’s next steps with regard to her military training. As confirmed by Robles, next September the heiress will take her first steps in this direction, in the wake of King Felipe. “It will be three years of training. During the 2023-2024 school year it will be at the General Academy of Zaragoza de Tierra; in 2024-2025 at the Naval Academy of Marin, where he will also board the training ship Juan Sebastián Elcano; and in 2025-2026 at the San Javier Air Academy (Murcia)»said the minister. The eldest daughter of King Felipe and Queen Letizia is due to return to Spain for the Easter holidays and will finish classes at Atlantic College in Wales in May. Then he will have several weeks off before joining his new phase, with many similarities to his father’s training.
