I wanna play resident Evil. Where do I start? the saga of survival horror in capcom redesigned the landscape of horror, action and survival in video games. Sometimes paying homage to that popcorn cinema born in video stores, aired at perverse times and propagated on VHS tapes. Others, much more ambitious in themes and content. It’s all well and good, mind you, but how many games do I have to play before I find Lady Dimitrescu?

In LifeExtra We have prepared a very special Resident Evil review for you with a very specific purpose: that you enjoy the saga in its entirety in an organized way. From the beginning to the latest events. Always supporting us with the timeline, each person’s arc and what happens in the spin-offs. Leaving aside the official soap operas, the good, bad and even worse films and everything that cannot be played on consoles and PCs.

The best Resident Evil? We analyze every game in the Capcom saga from worst to best

All Resident Evil games in chronological order

We start by answering the three key questions when starting to order the saga: what year does each installment take place, how many games have been published and which one should I start with? From there, adding up each main installment and with Capcom’s calendar of events in hand, we started the journey to the roots of Survival Horror.

Our starting point: resident evil 0, first of the more than 20 video games that make up the official chronology and that take us back to that fateful summer of 1998 when Raccoon City disappeared from the map. And be careful adding some additional story about the zombie thing extends to 2037.

  1. Resident Evil 0 (July 23-24, 1998)
  2. Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles (between July 1998 and February 2003)
  3. Resident Evil (July 24-25, 1998)
  4. Resident Evil Outbreak (between September and October 1998)
  5. Resident Evil Outbreak File #2 (between September and October 1998)
  6. Resident Evil 2 (September 29-30, 1998)
  7. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City
  8. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (September 26-28 and October 1, 1998)
  9. Resident Evil Survivor (November 1998)
  10. Resident Evil CODE: Veronica (December 1998)
  11. Resident Evil: The Dark Side Chronicles
  12. Resident Evil: Dead Aim (September 2002)
  13. Resident Evil: Revelations (2004 – 2005)
  14. Resident Evil 4 (Fall 2004)
  15. Resident Evil 5 (August 2006 / March 2009)
  16. Resident Evil: Revelations 2 (2011)
  17. Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps (between March 2012 and 2016)
  18. Resident Evil 6 (Between December 2012 and July 2013)
  19. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (between July and August 2017)
  20. Resident Evil Village (February 8-10, 2021)
  21. Resident Evil Village – Shades of Pink (2037)

The greatest complexity when it comes to establishing a correct order is in titles such as Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles any umbrella body, which encompass and expand the events of several main plots at once. However, when organizing, we took into account their respective starting points rather than the end date when locating them.

On the other hand, although we have not included parallel episodes like Separate ways or the stories of the mercenaries, we include the epilogue of Resident Evil Village – Shadows of Rose since it is a very specific chapter for chronology.

There are very specific titles published by Capcom that you won’t find in the above list, as they conflict with both the chronology and the events before and after, such as Resident Evil Gaiden from gameboy. However, as you’ll see below, we haven’t forgotten about them.

Although our first step was to organize all deliveries, we are now going to offer them chronologically, with new parameters and distinguishing the different periods. Something that, as you will see, allows us to include more games and that doesn’t change the order much. Coffee for coffee lovers!

Of course, we count on the saga of resident Evil it won’t end here. And let’s not deny it: that Capcom continues with big plans after so many installments is a sign not only of success, but of knowing how to reinvent itself while maintaining the style. Sometimes by trial and error, and other times replicating the grandeur of the classics.
